Principal's Message

I am extremely proud to be Principal of this prestigious academy. Having worked in education for over 20 years, with the last 10 at senior level, I feel privileged to have been appointed as Principal at The De La Salle Academy. This academy has been built on generations of high quality education and service to our community. It is my honour to continue this strong tradition long into the future.

In my first weeks I have shaken hands with every boy, met with groups of students and every member of staff. All of these conversations have fully confirmed to me that our academy is one of the great schools in Liverpool and a wonderful place with very respectful and well behaved boys, who in turn are supported, nurtured and challenged by a very experienced and caring staff body. Our motto is Semper fidelis, which is Latin for “always faithful”. This motto is lived out on a daily basis through the respectful relationships fostered between our whole academy community.

As an Academy, we are developing strong alliances with a range of partners throughout North-East Liverpool and the wider community, in order to bring about broad opportunities and experiences. The academy has seen very strong and consistent development over many years and now it is my mission to lead us to even greater success. I will do this by ensuring we live out our collective mission of “challenging minds” and “making a difference” to the lives of our students. It is also my responsibility to ensure that our core values of faith, courage, respect, resilience and independence are the touchstones for all that we do, all decisions we take and choices we make.

Under the expert guidance of the former Principal, Mr Ferguson, the academy underwent a major refurbishment programme to expand and improve facilities. Considerable improvements were made to our music and sports facilities. Our range of sports is ever-increasing and we now have teams playing football, rugby, cricket, basketball and volleyball amongst other sports. I am committed to sustaining this as well as the continuing the investment in ICT, to meet the demands of education in the 21st Century.

At The De La Salle Academy we believe in partnership with parents. We can best fulfil the potential of your son by working with you and we pledge to keep you regularly informed of developments in the school that affect your son. We want parents to feel that they are part of the school community, to feel that they are able to discuss with us any concerns that they have and to celebrate our successes with us.

On this website, you will find some of the exciting opportunities which we offer to our students and we hope that you will consider that The De La Salle Academy is the right school for your son. If you would like to see the academy for yourself, please contact us to make an appointment. I would be delighted to show you around.

I look forward to meeting with you and sharing the life of The De La Salle Academy in the future.

Mr. David Hayes
Principal
